Paul Brophy
Ceramic sculptor, Paul
Brophy create totemic, tactile objects in symbolic style that
goes beyond time. His latest sculptures are light towers, symbolic
of the lighthouses mixed in Celtic myth. The lighthouse is nothing
if not the most phallic clock in the world. Its message is composed
in light dark
flash, eclipse, flash, eclipse
keeping
us safe from within and without.
Paul completed his
Bachelor of Fine Arts, University of Tasmania, in 1986 and Master
of Visual, VCA in 1992.
He has been exhibiting
since 1985 in numerous galleries throughout Australia including
Gardens Outdoor Exhibition and Meat Market in Melbourne. Paul
was a finalist in the Royal Blind Society Sculpture Awards exhibited
in the Art Gallery of NSW.
After living in central
Victoria for the past 9 years, Paul now resides by the sea on
Flinders Island.
