How do we perceive the world around us?
Is our perception of a place created by who we are?
Is it the sum total of our experience, our memories, our physical wellbeing or even our gender?
Which aspect of the landscape do we choose to focus on when we view the wider scene with our narrowed line of sight?

An iconic image of Flinders Island.
Visually dominating the landscape with its power, strength, its durability.
The viewer's eye cannot help but be drawn to it as the rock creates an emotional fulcrum for the environment around it.

Darnielle Fenn has been a practicing artist since 1979. She has worked in many mediums including etching, lithography, screen-printing, photography, watercolour, oil and charcoal. Presently she is exploring drawing with graphite.

Darnielle's work is currently focused on the theme of rocks in the landscape. She asks "What do we choose to see when we are looking a the broader view?"

A graduate of Prahran College Melbourne in 1987 she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking.

Darnielle has exhibited at the Frankston Municipal Photographic competition 1985, the Women 150 Exhibition in St Kilda, Melbourne 1985, Prahran Graduate Exhibition 1987, the Whitemark Gallery Opening Exhibition 1989, Flinders Island Show 2005 and 2006, Strait Artworks Gallery 2006.

An exhibition highlight was an invitation to produce two etchings for the Poetry Of Solomos Exhibition, which travelled to Corfu, Greece in 1986. One of these etchings is now represented in the Literature Department collection of the University of Athens.

Darnielle moved to Flinders Island in 1988, she married and is raising two children.
She and her husband have owned and operated the Flinders Island Bakery for the last nine years where her work is currently on display.
