I have lived on Flinders
Island for most of my life and am a Tasmanian Aboriginal descended
from a great leader Mannalargenna. My mother, Dulice Greeno, taught
me the cultural tradition of marking articles from natural fibres
and shells.
A local artist helped me male string fro this necklace. This tradition
has been recorded in archaeologist sites dating back at least 1800
years and it is passed on to the next generation of women through
their mothers, aunties and sisters.
